A Medical Director in Colorado can be a Medical Doctor, MD or DO, or a Nurse Practitioner. Board Rule 1.17 governs MD and DO Directors. There is no current equivalent for Nurse Practitioners for Board Rule 1.17 in their DORA Nursing Board. A Physician Assistant cannot currently be a Medical Director. Doctors and Nurse Practitioners in Colorado have some subtle differences in who they can delegate under their licenses and how they can delegate under their license.
